But, perhaps not surprisingly, the Leader of the Opposition is not impressed. He told us today that he does not trust that the file as presented is a true reflection of all that was unearthed in the investigation:
Shyne Barrow, Leader of the Opposition
"It is laughable and insulting to the public and to you that they present a file that is in my view compromised. Who went into that case file? Who contaminated that case file? We see a pattern where no matter what Nah do, "I mi deh wid mi uncle" - what would have been transparent, what would be good governance is to open a new investigation."
Jules Vasquez
"One of the things that jumps out is that the Ahmad family said they had been consistently receiving threats and 2 numbers linked to Mr. Nah were found to have been sending those threats via text message. That has to be an alarm bell, but no action was taken and the band played on. This was when a UDP government was in. A UDP minister was in."
Shyne Barrow, Leader of the Opposition
"Who was the minister?"
Jules Vasquez
"I believe it was the one John Saldivar."
Shyne Barrow, Leader of the Opposition
"The Fareed Ahmad family deserves justice. If we can give them justice, follow through."
