As we have been reporting, the Briceno Administration is making a concerted effort to wrest away the Boledo contract from Brad's after it was awarded in 2020.
It's a high stakes battle- and it's not cheap! Even though the matter hasn't gone to litigation yet, an August 2022 document leaked from the Ministry of Finance show that the law firm of Courtenay & Coye LLP is almost 150 thousand dollars. It's a steep bill and that's just for services rendered up to August of 2022, and it's only for junior counsel provided by that firm, since the Senior Counsel is Douglas Mendes - whose bill will probably be much higher than that.
That matter is currently at a standoff since Brad's attorney has notified the government that one of its shareholders is a Cayman registered company protected by the UK Belize Investment Treaty.
