And going back to last night's story - which was a real eye opener for many of our viewers - the Minister says he was not impressed. Taking a formal approach he says without a complaint - it's just speculation - and, now, incredibly, he wants the anonymous whistleblower to incriminate himself and make a formal complaint:
Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs
"I saw that story on your newscast last night and I think the media has a responsibility as well as that whistle blower to declare to the police who those gun dealers are, because that is illegal. For them to be charging you a fee for a gun license is illegal and so charges can be brought against them for that and that is no different from corruption in other ministries whether its facilitators at the lands department, facilitators at the immigration department. There are facilitators for this, but we need a criminal report to be made against those gun dealers who are offending the law so that we can charge them."
"So, as the media and I am sure brother Jules will do further investigative journalism on this, but let us get a criminal complaint going, so that we can press charges on those individuals, because aside from that its just rumors, its just speculation - you're not saying who that individual is which I totally understand - you're protecting that individual, but we need to take it to the next level so that we can end whatever type of facilitation is taking place."
And while we won't be making any police complaints, we will keep the pressure up and keep following this story next week.
