Over the past few week's we've been reporting on the Serrano Saga, after the Belize Bus Association made a decision not to renew Serrano's road service permit, due to a number of infractions. Serrano's permit expired on July 14th and they've been out of business since. Their loyal commuters told us that they speculate the board's decision was politically influenced, after they learned that their new company, set to take over Serrano's route, is owned by the driver of the area representative in Ladyville. The Minister of Transport responded to those comments today stating that Serranos had too many infractions. He told us what were some of those infractions.
Reporter:
"They say that this was a political move, this was a political tactic on GOBs part. To remove Serranos and bring in Central Transit?"
Rodwell Feruguson, Minister of Youth Sports and Transport

"That is not so I think first as the media you are supposed to do investigative journalism to go to the transport board and ask them that question and see all the discrepancies against Serrano."
Reporter:
"Apparently Serrano's had a lot of infractions. Do you have any knowledge of these infractions? What are they?"
Rodwell Feruguson, Minister of Youth Sports and Transport
"Well he crashed into another bus because of the competition. Then pulling guns on his, some people around the area. There are so many infractions that the board decided they don't want to renew his contract or his road service permit. And then remember Mr Shaw represent the bus owners on the board and even him voted against Serrano's to get his contract renewed. So something is wrong."
Minister Ferguson maintains that he has no say or influence on the approval and rejection of road service permits. He says that the bus association makes that determination.
