The NEAC appeals tribunal hasn't met yet since it was first conveyed in March of this year. That's because the reconstituted NEAC tribunal - set to hear the appeal of the twice rejected Waterloo port proposal - has been met with successive setbacks after two appointees stepped aside. That's after they both came under attack by the Ashcroft Alliance.

First, Lucy Fleming stepped down as the private sector representative on the three person tribunal. Her successor, Paul Hunt, a founding member of the BTIA, recused himself earlier this month, both under heavy pressure from the Ashcroft alliance. And, now, a third replacement has been named by The Ministry of Sustainable Development. They have appointed Mark Lizarraga, the Chair of BTL and former President of the Chamber of Commerce. And while we aren't the betting types, we'd wager that he too will come under attack by the Ashcroft Alliance - though we'll have to wait and see. Sources told us that the tribunal is set for its first meeting in early August.
