It's "ovah" for Anthony "Boots" Martinez, at least according to his one - time opponent, the current area rep for Port Loyola, Gilroy Usher.
Martinez launched a recall petition back in July, promising to have it signed, sealed and delivered September 9th, which is Usher's birthday. But that date has come and gone and it may be safe to say that the petition was unable to garner the threshold of 10% of registered voters in that constituency - or in Boots vernacular, it is D-E-D.
And today, Usher is celebrating with a press release, thanking the residents for, quote, "the confidence shown in his representation of the area by resoundingly rejecting the recall petition." End quote.
According to the release, 1,500 signatures were needed because the division has over 5,000 voters, and adds that Martinez fell significantly short of that number. Now, Usher is calling on Martinez and his supporters to, quote, "join their efforts in providing the residents of the division with more employment, better streets, adequate housing, land, and better education, among other things." End quote.
We reached out to Martinez for a comment, but up to news time, he had not responded.
He was last seen marching in the Tenth Parade, wearing a t-shirt with his self-styled catch phrases.
