And while Fonseca visited two schools in his division today, will he be seeking a sixth term in Freetown come 2025?

Political chatter says the 56 year old politician - may be looking to retire undefeated. He explained that he has been contemplating it, and has even informed his constituents, but he hasn't come to a decision quite yet.

Francis Fonseca, Minister of Education

"I haven't made any decision as yet. I haven't made any decision, but it's no secret. I mean, I think, you know, last time I was UNCUT, Jules asked me about this, and I said to him very frankly and openly that the last time I ran, I really said to the people of Freetown that that would be my last time running."

"You know, I've been doing this for 20 years now, 20 years this year. I've been elected five times by the people of Freetown. I continue to enjoy their support and confidence. But, you know, at some point you have to move on."

"But I haven't made a final decision yet. Obviously that's something I have to discuss with the party and the prime minister and the leader of the party. So I will do that in the months ahead and make a final decision in good due time."

"And you will have a say in who replaces you, sir?"

Francis Fonseca, Minister of Education
"No, no, no. I mean, that's entirely a matter for the party. If I do this, I do. Not to run."

We should note that after losing his second general election as party leader in 2015, Fonseca said at that time he would be retiring before the next election, but hung around and is now considered a key cabinet alley of the Prime Minister.
