The Leader of the Opposition also weighed in during his regular press briefing today, he said that the fight between the belmopan municipal government and central government is the opposite of what the PUP promised:
Shyne Barrow, Leader of the Opposition
"In the last municipal elections, they promised synchronicity and synergy with central and local government. That was the pitch. You have to vote PUP now because we have a PUP government. So as in the instance of Orange Walk Town, who had been around during UDP central governments, their promise was that, well, thing will happen now because we not just have central government, we have the prime minister who is from Orange Walk - nothing happened in Orange Walk."
"Belmopan is no different. They have been fighting from the very onset. They have been divided, the minister and the mayor from the very onset. And so who suffers? The people of Belmopan. And so we hope and we have confidence that the people in Belmopan city will certainly rid themselves of the burden of a divided People's United Party of mayor that has been ineffective due to her battles with the aera representative."
