Last week we told you about the UDP's Standard Bearer for Port Loyola Phillip Willoughby - who was suddenly in a most unusual and unprecedented position. He married his opponent's daughter in April - so he would need up running against his father in law, Gilroy Usher Senior.
Well, not anymore. The UDP Central Executive met today and - according to a party release, quote, "unanimously voted to remove Phillip Willoughby as the Standard Bearer for Port Loyola in the best interest of the Party."
The release adds that the application period is now open for Standard Bearer in Port Loyola.
It's a sad but not unexpected outcome for Willoughby who pledged his eternal loyalty to his party and his new partner.
