And while Team Tracey sharpens their knives for who knows what may lie ahead, never to be underestimated, Shyne Barrow has also responded with a campaign titled "1 Party, 1 Leader, 1 Mission" - and his supporters have been flooding UDP chat groups with that.

All in all, it looks like just another UDP soap opera in a scummy old soap dish….but Team Tracey's sharp knives could be unsheathed at a National Party Council meeting scheduled for August third.

That meeting is planned as a port Morten for the July 17th defeat in Toledo East.

At his press brief on Friday we asked Barrow about what else may happen at that meeting:

Shyne Barrow, Leader of the Opposition
"Yes, August 3rd, the party chairman, I spoke to the party chairman, made sure that we set that immediately as we always do. We always have a postmortem."

Jules Vasquez
"I know that Tracey Taegar-Panton had requested the National Party Council to deal with some matters."

Shyne Barrow, Leader of the Opposition
"This has nothing to do with that request."

Jules Vasquez
"So, I know she sent a letter."

Shyne Barrow, Leader of the Opposition
"I have nothing to do with that. I'm not getting into that. As always, when we finish an election, we always have an NPC to deal with the postmortem."

"And so, I discussed with the party chairman, way ahead of time. Listen, win, lose or draw, we need to have an NPC. And so, August 3rd is a date for NPC."

Jules Vasquez
"Are you concerned that your inter -party opponents may be organizing? I keep hearing that they are signing a petition that may be organizing to impeach you."

Shyne Barrow, Leader of the Opposition
"Without saying any names, there are people that lose sleep every night thinking about how they can overthrow me."

"But I have no concern about those people. I know that the majority of my colleagues support me. And I will continue doing the work to support my colleagues. Right now. we're in transfer period. We need to focus on that and we have a general election coming soon. I don't care what the Prime Minister says. He may call it in November. He may call it in March. We need to be ready."

In a related event, John Saldivar today submitted his resignation as Regional Leader for the Western Caucus. In a letter to the Chairman, he says, quote, "I can no longer operate in this environment of disrespect for each other and disregard for our Party's Constitution at the highest levels of leadership."

Other reports from the west say Saldivar - whose term as Regional leader ended a week ago - opted to pull out when it was made clear that a majority of the caucus members would be switching their support to Omar Figueroa as leader.
