And today the media challenged Briceno about Bulmer-Thomas's report - which basically debunked all his boasts about a burgeoning economy.
Briceno said "tell that to the IMF":
John Briceno, Prime Minister
"I think they need to go and talk to the IMF, it's not us that are doing it, it's the IMF, it's not with us so let them go and talk to them. And if they know more than the IMF that's fine. I just got the professor, but that's, I would not, I have just started reading it but what it has pointed out, an important thing to find, that under the UDP this country regressed. We're finally catching up to where we were in 2007 when there was a PUP government and in 4 years we've done that, we've turned things around, and now we're building on that. We're working in the services, with tourism, agriculture, the exports that we're having in agriculture, we have never seen before. We have Guatemalans coming in and they buy eggs, milk, chicken, coconuts, everything that we have and we need to take advantage of that."
