And, according to reports, Speednet has also given pre action notice that it intends to seek legal redress against the award of a contract for the installation of over 1,000 CCTV cameras across Belize.

This is a project from the Ministry of Home Affairs as they try to implement the use of technology in their crime fighting strategies.

Speednet alleges that the contract was awarded to BTL without inviting them to bid. The claim would seek to delay the installation of the cameras. We asked the minister about it today.

Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs
"I have not seen it. I was informed by the AG's ministry yesterday, and so I'm hoping to have a meeting with the attorney general, and the council over at the ministry to go over what the letter, because I don't think it's a claim, I think it's a letter of action. So I want to have a chance to review it with the attorney general before discussing it."
