But although they got their salary increase and their increment unfrozen, the NTUCB and its member unions will still have a march and rally tomorrow morning in Belize City.
Now, they don't quite have the same motivation - since they are already getting paid - but today in a message to her membership Nadia Caliz said thy have to keep up the fight for reform:
Nadia Caliz, President, BNTU
"For me, that's one chapter closed. The book has many chapters. We're at the chapter for systemic change. We're at the chapter for legislative change. And tomorrow, the BN2, which is a part of the NTUCB, will be marching in Belize City."
"If as a member you choose not to participate because of 8.5, then you have lost the big picture, the big picture. Vacation, no vocation. This president has no vocation. Vacation, no vocation. You need to get in your green shirts."
"Value teachers, we matter. Get on those buses and get yourself to Belize City tomorrow for us to march under the BNTU umbrella. And the BNTU will march because we believe that it is time and past time that this country sees some changes when we talk about laws."
