During the symposium, one of the topics Fonseca spoke about was the petition launched yesterday by the newly formed solidarity group, Liberation 9/21. As we told you, the petition urges the government to remove the visa waiver for Israeli passport holders. So far, it has over 300 signatures. And the Foreign Minister says that he's prepared to take it to Cabinet for further discussion.

Francis Fonseca, Minister of Foreign Affairs
"Yeah, certainly. If we have a petition that comes from citizens of Belize, we have to give respect to that petition. So certainly we will be prepared to look at it, review it. And, you know, ultimately, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will advise the cabinet on what course of action to take, and then the cabinet will be would be the ones to make the final determination."
Courtney Menzies:
"Do you feel like it's a valid, request to remove this visa waiver in light of what's happening in the Middle East?"
Francis Fonseca, Minister of Foreign Affairs
"I think I need to look at it, more closely and discuss it more, you know, in a more meaningful way with our foreign affairs team. You know, I don't want to get ahead of any decision that the government would make on the matter. So we'd have to review it more closely before I would take a position."
