And, when it comes to sussing out the facts, most of that is left to newsrooms like this one, but that's because successive PUDP administrations have reduced oversight bodies like the Auditor General's Office, the Integrity Commission, the Public Accounts Committee, and the Contractor General into toothless tigers.

Flowers called for greater oversight and advocacy from these sleeping watchdogs:

Dean Flowers, President of PSU
"When we call for better governance when we call for penalties to be effected or instituted into the Finance and Audit Reform Act which does not necessarily have any teeth for punishing breaches. The Belizean people continue to attend jouvert and the likes instead of championing these causes. So I really just think we need to stay on course with the National Trade Union Congress of Belize to continue to call for more credible people to be appointed to these oversight bodies such as the Integrity Commission. And I think it is a disgrace with those who are there under the former administration, it is even more disgraceful with those who are currently there because they say when you know better you do better. And so knowing where we came from under the Barrow administration and to see these things continue it speaks more to the character of the persons who now hold these oversight bodies and who now hold office in government."
