And while he doesn't oppose Mai's bad back, does he support the PM's statement last night attacking Channel 7's News Director, Jules Vasquez? As a long time public defender of freedom of the press, we asked him about his thoughts on the scathing release. He said that it doesn't make sense to get personal with the media.

Francis Fonseca, Minister of Foreign Affairs

"I think, listen, I firmly, firmly believe in the freedom of of the media. You know, and we are our public officials, right? We are public. And so we are subject to we sign up for public scrutiny and criticism. We sign up for that. So you know, I never find that there's value in getting into a back and forth with the media. And certainly not getting personal with the media. You know, so, you know, I understand that, you know, in this business, sometimes we believe we are being treated unfairly and sometimes that's true. it's not just that we believe it. Sometimes we are being treated unfairly. But we, you know, we have to take it. We have to take it because that's what we signed up for. So, you know, I know the Prime minister, is a man who I know believes in the freedom of the media, the freedom of the press. And I know he values the role of the press in our democracy. So, you know, I hope we can move forward, without any further back and forth."
