And the more hardline NTUCB members wanted to demand Chairman Mark Lizarraga's resignation. But the final statement ended up asking for him to recuse himself from the negotiations - saying he has a clear conflict of interest. Waight explained:

"As a responsible union, taxpayers, we do not know what that contract will entail if we ask for resignation and it happens, what implications that may be. We do not know."

"At this point, we are saying he needs to be removed from this entire process. We do not feel confident in his decisions anymore. We do not have that feeling that he is there for the best interest of workers or BTL."
