Belize's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister were among the few CARICOM leaders who had not met with the new US Secretary of State since he took office a year ago. Well, tonight we can confirm that PM Bricneo has met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Briceno posted today that he had a quick side meeting with Secretary Rubio who arrived at the 50th CARICOM Heads of Government Meeting in St.Kitts and Nevis today.
Briceno posted, quote, "Relations with the USA are critical for Belize and the wider Caribbean region. Matters of concern include transnational crime, current matters in relation to Cuba and its impact on the broader region as well as other matters."
Briceno also met with the Commonwealth Secretary General, Shirley Botchwey.
