And while there were sparks during that part of the debate, Henry Charles Usher kicked it off this morning. In his speech, he began by criticizing the Leader of the Opposition and referred to her speech as being AI-generated.
Henry Charles Usher, Minister for Public Service
"This negativity seems endemic in the Opposition and that is why they remain divided. Members of her own party criticized the Leader of the Opposition's 2 hour rebuttal, calling it baseless and lacking in substance. All Channel 7 could was that it was 20 minutes longer than the prime minister's speech. And while these persons are not wrong it seems the real reasons they do not like it is because it was not negative enough. And maybe the member from Albert is trying to break away from all that but she still has a far way to go."
"I wanted to hear what proposals, plans, alternatives that the Leader of the Opposition would offer but like speeches before there were none. No plan, no alternative allocation of resources, no cost saving proposals, so different implementation strategy, it seems to be AI generated criticism without grounded solutions. We know about Chat GPT well now there's Chat UDP. Talk and talk and more talk without any authentic ideas."
Today's debate is still ongoing.
