And, in more exciting political news - Belize City's PUP supporters are getting ready to participate in the sunup to a heated convention for a mayoral candidate.
Allan Pollard and Eluide Miller are both interested in the job. We asked the PM who he favors:
Jules Vasquez
"The last time we spoke to Allan Pollard, you know, he had spoken out a little against the party. You spoke to him, you counseled him, you said that, you know, you told him everything is time, right? It's time."
"But now he's waited his time and now he faces a challenge from a relative newcomer. How do you feel about the Belize City Municipal?"
John Briceno, Prime Minister

"That would be a tough choice for the delegates because we have two excellent guys. And Alan has paid his dues without a doubt. And I have great respect and regard for Alan, young man that grew up in the hood per se and could have easily gone astray, but he'd have done something with his life."
"So I have great respect and regard for him. And I believe that should he be elected as mayor, he will do a really good job. He has the energy, he has vision, he has ideas. But the same thing could be said about Eluide."
"You know, Eluide has been there for two terms. So 3 years difference. You know, it's not a lot. Eluide also, I think, meet those qualities, you know, that he has worked exceptionally well and a humble individual."
"Yes, I think he was originally from Corozal, but he has been living in the city. And so I think that it's going to be a tough choice for the delegates. And luckily, I don't have to make that decision."
"But we will work with any one of them. But we have two good people."
