And with the sugar cane industry facing existential challenges the Prime Minister - who is also Minister of the sugar Industry - says the good old days of government bailouts are over:

"I do believe that once there is a willingness on our part as a government, but also a willingness on the cane farmers and the associations, I mean and I stress the association's that they have to be able to understand and to realize that the good old days are over, the good old days when government can step in and just give them free money. It is over and we don't have that And so and we have to change, we have to innovate, and we have to continue to be able to work, not necessarily harder, but smarter to be able to be successful in this industry."
