And while the government can take its leisurely time to have a Cabinet review, alliances opposed to the acquisition-both its audacity and what some see as its absurdity-are taking shape. The opposition and the social partners are reported to have met-and the Chamber was scheduled to meet with those partners today.
So, with the decision by a BTL board supermajority appointed by the Prime Minister deciding on an acquisition that will net his family 18 million dollars-and creating a telecoms monopoly-has the government crossed a tipping point with the public? The press asked Fonseca just that today:

"Yeah, no I don't think the public is at a breaking point, I recognize the concerns I think there are legitimate concerns and questions as I said the government has a responsibility to respond to those in a respectful way and I'm sure that, that is what we will do."
