82 to 2 - that's the much publicized cumulative shelling Belize has taken in regional football play - but hopes are higher for a little publicized national basketball team that's heading for a regional tournament in El Salvador tomorrow.
Director of the sports council Hugh "Pinas" Staine today confirmed that a team comprising 7 juniors players and 5 veterans leaves for the COPABA qualifying tournament in Salvador by bus tomorrow. Staine confirmed that due to budgetary constraints, they will not have help from proven Belize American talents such as Darwin Carter and Dwight Myvette. Still Staine says he is confident Belize can gain one of the two qualifying bids form the tournament.
