Belize participated in the 8th Central American Games in Costa Rica last week and while the contingent didn't return home with gold medals, they did maintain their pride. In basketball our players nabbed second place and a silver medal after getting outmatched in the gold medal game by Panama which crushed Belize 103 to 58. Kimberly Weir got a silver medal in bodybuilding for fitness, and Dean Anderson also got silver in the middle weight category. Roger Sutherland got a bronze medal in the lightweight class and Dylan Jones got the same in the masters' category. In track and field Joel Wade returned home with two bronze medals, one for the long jump and the other for the high jump. Marlon Castillo got a bronze medal for cycling time trial. In the triathlon, of the 20 participants from 5 countries the top finisher for Belize was Jim Scott at fourteen. Rounding out the Belize medal contingent is Matthew Anderson who got a silver medal in racquetball.
