And while those dancehall reggae icons are glad to be on Channel 7 in Belize, two Belizeans will be happy to be in Germany next month for the World Cup, but they aren't football players. In fact the only thing Shahida Vega did to win the round trip for two was use her credit card. Scotia Bank customers who used their cards between February and April got a chance to win roundtrip tickets for two to Germany. Vega was the winner and an additional six customers took home consolation prizes. The presentation was made this morning at Scotia Bank.
Cecil Arnold, Branch Manager
“Anybody who received a credit card since January 1st and made a first purchase got a chance to enter in this raffle. They got ten chances and for every purchase subsequent to that you get one chance. So every credit card holder that had a credit card since January first, up to the end of April had a chance to enter the raffle. It is a combination of Scotia Bank and Master Card giving World Cup prizes and a grand prize for two people to travel to Germany, valued over US$10,000 for that lucky winner."
Josie Andrews, Assistant Manager
“We actually had a total of seven winners. We had about six winners that won secondary prizes which were the FIFA and Master Card merchandise that you saw presented earlier and then we had our grand prize winner who won two round trip tickets to Germany and back as well as two tickets to different matches for the World Cup while they are in Germany in addition to $2,000 credit to their Scotia Bank Mastercard and additional tours and that type of stuff.
