In June, when Marion Jones won the 100 meters at the U.S. track and field championship, it was a certain sign that her 2006 comeback was legit. Well, now media reports are saying that at those same championships, Jones tested positive for the performance enhancing drug known as Epo. Jones must now wait for the test of a 'B' sample, which will not be completed until September 6.
In a statement Jones says she is shocked at the result and that she has requested that the testing of her 'B' sample be expedited. If the 'B' sample is positive, the 30-year-old mother of one, could face a two year ban from the sport. Though she had been under scrutiny by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) in connection with the Balco Laboratory doping scandal, she has never been charged with a doping offence, nor has she ever failed a doping test.
Nonetheless, Jones has been dogged by doping allegations, the most prominent coming from her ex husband CJ Hunter and Balco founder Victor Conte.
