The second annual Strong Man and Female Volleyball Competition will be held Sunday at Old Belize. It is being held to raise funds for the Salvation Army and today we got a preview at Old Belize.
Keith Swift Reporting,
If you think you can pull this three ton Isuzu Dmax Pickup, lift these 550 pound barrels of oil, roll these tires, and tow this boat filled with red stripe beer then you need to be at Old Belize on Sunday.
Francis Woods, Organizer
"The strongman contest is similar to last year where there will pull a vehicle, flip drums, turn over a big tire, pull the boat full of Red Stripe Beer, load some stones in a Caterpillar excavator, push a big tire, and the last one will be stacking some tires on the stick."
Keith Swift,
Tell us about the volleyball competition. How will it work?
Francis Woods,
"We'll just do eliminations from in the morning and then we will have the finals probably around 12 or one. Right after that is finished, we will have the strongman competition. It is a female two by two, meaning tow persons on each side."
Francis Woods says that on Sunday you'll have good fun and it will be for a good cause.
Keith Swift,
It sounds like a day for the family to come out.
Francis Woods,
"That's right and at the same time enjoy the nice atmosphere and know that they'll be supporting the Salvation Army with its feeding program."
Keith Swift,
And why did you choose the Salvation Army?
Francis Woods,
"Well Salvation Army, they do a lot of good things and I know Major Errol Robateau personally and I know he's having a hard time keeping up with all the things he is doing and of course finance is one of their biggest issues so hopefully this year we'll be able to raise close to $5,000 for him."
The female volleyball competition begins at 8 am and the Strongman contest begins at 1 pm.
