Belize's highly touted under-20 men's national basketball team played the host country, the Dominican Republic, last night at the Central American and Caribbean Games. They lost narrowly with a score of 75-78.
It was a crushing loss in a game they led most of the way. To the average basketball commentator or spectator, that game was winnable for Belize, but Minister of Sports Devin Daly says he believes they can bounce back despite that loss:
Devin Daly, Minister of State for Youth and Sports
"Those young men they were representing Belize, kudos to them and I'm looking forward to them to rebound and actually get a gold."
Reporter:
"How do you feel that they're performing so far?"
Devin Daly:

"I think they're performing well, I think we need to give the young team some grace. The first game they did extremely well, ofcourse they had some lessons learned from then, they were leading by 10 points in the fourth quarter that's what I was told and they fell short from it because of the full court pressure. However I'm confident in what the president of the federation has been doing, what the coaching staff has been doing and I think as a country we just need to rally behind them and give them that support."
