In Nicaragua, 21 people are dead and 200 are missing after Hurricane Felix slammed into the northeast coast on Tuesday. Today, the once mighty Hurricane Felix petered out as a tropical depression over Honduras which has reported only light rain.

In Belize, late this morning into early afternoon, heavy gusts associated with the feeder bands gave those in the Belize and Cayo Districts a slight hint of what might have been. The Met Office in Ladyville recorded gusts of between 35 to 40 knots, or 40 to 45 miles an hour. Residents of Belmopan, Roaring Creek, Camalote, and Ontario also report heavy winds. In Punta Gorda, it is windy and wet, but no torrential rains have been reported. There is no localized flooding in low-lying areas of the town.

Still, because of very heavy rains that Felix produced in Nicaragua the situation bears watching. The Toledo and Southern Stann Creek Districts feature 8 rivers: the Sarstoon, the Temash, the Moho, the Rio Grande, Deep River, Golden Stream, Bladen and Swayze.
