Now as concerns water levels in the north. According to the Met Office, the Rio Hondo continues to rise slowly but it has steadied off in Douglas Village, where the rising river had already forced a few evacuations. In the west the Mopan and Macal Rivers are also now slowly going down – as the Iguana Creek and low lying bridges have now re-opened. We’ll show you some images from the west later on in the newscast. Nationally, the Met Office reports that there are two hundred and 79 persons currently in shelters. But the rain continues – and there was another inch of rainfall over the south last night. And the weatherman says the conditions are right and there could be more rain coming.
