And while the MET office says the storm made landfall in Belize City - the most significant effects were felt in the southern Orange Walk district.

According to BEL, four lamp posts along the Guinea Grass Road had to be replaced and the villages of Tower Hill and Guinea Grass were without power for over 24 hours. The power went at 9:00 on Saturday night and residents of Guinea Grass tell us that it didn't come back until this morning.

Power was also lost in San Lazaro Village up to Blue Creek and Cuatro Leguas in the Orange Walk District at 11:00 on Saturday night and extending for 17 hours. Accoridng to BEL Two lamp poles went down along the August Pine Ridge road. Power was restored on Sunday afternoon.

Stormy weather also caused shorter power outages in two sections of San Pedro Town, as well as several communities along the Western Highway and the Burrell Boom Road.
