If you normally work in Belmopan, but you're a commuter, you must have realized that the power has been out in that city for the entire day, and still continues to be in a blackout at this time.
Belize Electricity explains that the power interruption is the result of a damaged power transformer. Inclement weather during the course of the day presented challenges for the work crews, however, they continue with corrective action to restore power as soon as possible.
The company continues to work on restoring power to the City of Belmopan, following an unscheduled power interruption at 7:00 a.m. today.
The Company projects that power supply will be restored to the area by midnight.
BEL apologizes for any inconvenience caused by this extended and unscheduled power interruption and will provide another update on the progress of works at 9:00 p.m.
