The hurricane experts at Colorado State University say that it's going to be a very active hurricane season. They are predicting 11 hurricanes this year due mainly to record warm sea surface temperatures in the Atlantic ocean.

This is the highest prediction for hurricanes that CSU has ever issued with their April outlook.

The team is also predicting 23 named storms during the hurricane season; eleven to reach hurricane strength and five to reach major hurricane strength with sustained winds of 111 miles per hour or greater.

We stress that the CSU forecast is intended to provide a best estimate of activity in the Atlantic during the upcoming season - and it is not an exact measure.
