Tonight there is concern in the Orange Walk District because waters have risen very quickly due to heavy rains. Tonight there are graphic images of flooded highways, multiple submerged vehicles in Trinidad, a motorcycle being washed off the road in San Jose, and water coursing through villages like Palmar.

These images from the Ministry of Infrastructure Development show that waters have been rising dangerously fast in the Belize and Orange Walk Districts after heavy rains in the last 24 hours. At Come N dine restaurant culverts are at full capacity. Waters are also high in Trial Farm village. And, also at Carmelita. The Tower Hill weather station outside of Orange Walk has reported more than 8 inches of rain so far today. And it continues into the night.

And there's also footage of fast rising waters at miles 42 and 51 on the George Price Highway.

The MIDH also reports that quadruple and triple culverts along the Boom/Hattieville bypass are working at almost max capacity. Experts say it is unprecedented to happen so early in the wet season after just a week of rain.
