It took independent expert Dr. Richard Hern one month of research and a 52 page report to reach the same conclusion the Public Utilities Commission did on Belize Water Services' requested 32% hike.
The PUC recommended a 15% hike and Dr. Hern suggests 17%. But like the PUC, Dr. Hern's 52 page reports calls on BWSL to in effect curb water loss through theft and cut its top-heavy management.
The BWSL or anyone objecting to the Dr. Hern's recommendation has until March 18th to make submissions to the PUC. Dr. Hern's report is available at the PUC's office on Regent Street or online at http://www.puc.bz
