The process went a little past the deadline, but the PUC will present new telephone rates tomorrow.
Despite all the back and forth about legal and illegal rates, this is the first time that PUC will actually set phone rates. What will it include? Well, not much is known except that international direct dialing rates are expected to go down which had been proposed as much as 4 months ago. But they won't go lower than the 10-10-199 service which is expected to be discontinued eventually because it uses the voice over Internet protocol which BTL owner Jeffrey Prosser believes is stealing bandwidth.
The new rate package is also expected to introduce a social rate for senior citizens.
