It was a bitter divorce when it was announced that the KHMH and the Belize Diagnostic Center were no longer able to work together to provide diagnostic services within the KHMH. Well as divorces go, so do claims and seven news today confirmed from Dr. Harry Hoy, the director of the Belize Diagnostic Center, that his company is suing the KHMH.
He says that the basis of his suit is that the KHMH breached the 10 year contract it had signed with Belize Diagnostic Center. Specifically two clauses: one that Belize Diagnostic would be the exclusive provider of imaging services to the KHMH's patients: which Hoy says was breached when doctors at the KHMH referred patients to other facilities.
The second breach came when the KHMH refused to pay Belize diagnostic center for emergency patients that received services from them. Now, Hoy says his accountants are working on a figure which will include losses it accrued during the 2 year stay at the KHMH and projected profits for the ten year life of the contract.
