23 year old alleged rapist Douglas Crawford escaped from Hattieville three weeks ago but the private prison didn't think it a big enough deal to warn the public that there was a dangerous fugitive on the run. Well they didn't have to tell it to the folks in Esperanza district who found out that hard way after Crawford allegedly pulled off a number of burglaries. But today at noon, Crawford's run came to an end when police caught up with him allegedly fleeing form the scene of a robbery. Police say Crawford threatened them with a machete and that's when they opened fire on him, shooting the fugitive a number of times in the legs. He's been admitted to the hospital, and after he gets out will face a number of burglary charges, and return to the prison where he was already serving a sentence for escape. Crawford's most recent escape was from the KHMH when he slipped out of the hospital while he was awaiting surgery.
