So with Speednet revved up, what will BTL do to keep its 75,000 cellular customers? Well, on Friday the company will launch its incredible rewards promotion. You can read the new rates in tomorrow's paper but you can hear them tonight first on 7NEWS. BTL's Senior Marketing Representative Lisa Stanford told us what incentives they are offering to customers. And while the new rates aren't the cheapest, she says BTL isn't scared because the company offers more than just cheap rates.
Lisa Stanford, Sr. Marketing Rep., BTL
"We are going to offer some incredible rewards to our customers, to our premier customers and as well to our prepaid customers. Our premier customers are going to see an increase in their plans, people will see an increase in their minutes; for the standard you have peak and off-peak and there will have an increase in both sections. And also for the prepaid customers we are going to have an increase in the cards so we'll have new cards coming in and you will have different percentages that the customers will get on the card, for our prepaid customers. So that is what we are going to be offering April 1st, the incredible rewards."
Keith Swift,
How does this compare to the plans offered by Speednet?
Lisa Stanford,
"Comparing the plans, I think the rates are not everything. We offer other services to our customers like quality assurance, we have convenience to our customers as they could go to our agents and dealers and get a package right away, we offer flexibilities - they an take the SIM out of their phone if they're traveling and they could go somewhere to go buy a prepaid card, put it in and they could go. So we are offering more than just the rates and the price, we are offering customer satisfaction and quality of service and flexibility to our customers."
"Competition gives people options and that is all that we are doing. We are giving them options. We are not doing the rates as compared to Speednet rates, we just doing this as a reward for our customers. We have been preparing for competition for quite a while. So the fear, I am not gong to say that its there, but we have been able to, with the response, from the market, give our customers a choice."
An important distinction we should note is that the costs per minute remains the same. For example under the promotion, when you buy a $10 Digicell phone card you will get $11.50 in value, but the cost per minute will remain the same. BTL also adds that these incredible rewards are in effect indefinitely.
