We never thought we'd be happy to say that premium gas is only $9.26 a gallon, but we are tonight because the pump price of gas has gone down. Prices at the pump were rolled back at midnight on Saturday.
Again that new price for a gallon of premium gasoline in the city is $9.26. That's down 74 cents from the record high of $10 it jumped to a couple weeks ago. Regular gas has dropped from $9.75 to $8.90, a decrease of 85 cents. Diesel has dropped 40 cents from $7.41 to $7.01 while kerosene dips a full dollar from $7.46 to $6.46.
Of course for some context we note that at the beginning of this year the price of a gallon of premium gas was $8.33. With this drop to $9.26, you are still paying 93 cents more per gallon than you were at the beginning of the year.
So why the decrease? Well the 15,000 gallons of oil from Venezuela isn't here yet but government attributes the decrease to falling oil prices on the international market. Government promises to monitor the world prices and pass on any decreases to consumers.
