The former British High Commissioner to Belize Phillip Priestley, has parlayed his diplomatic experience in this country to secure a new job with an international investment firm. Priestly has taken up a post as advisor to Blue Diamond Ventures, a Texas based company which has expressed interest in buying the inactive Libertad Factory. According to a release from Blue Diamond, priestly will work on projects in Belize and the Caribbean. The release adds that Priestley will be traveling to Belize to engage government in discussions about Blue Diamond Projects.

According to the company, those projects include a $1 million, 3,000-acre goat processing facility. Blue Diamond's plan also includes producing ethanol at Libertad. We note this with a degree of healthy skepticism because in the past government has had to caution blue diamond to tone down its public pronouncements before putting money down on the ground, or, as the case may be, on the table.
