At BTL the countdown to industrial action continues. Last night the executive of the Communication Workers Union met to again reassert that they will continue the go slow and work to rule which was started on Friday of last week. There has been no response from BTL's management to reinstate three employees who were unilaterally fired.

And even though there have been no negotiations, the Ministry Of Labour has responded by appointing acting Labor Commissioner Adelfino Vasquez to look into the matter. The Communication Workers will be meeting with him tomorrow, however we understand that the union will not be asking for Vasquez to negotiate, but to arbitrate.

The Communication Workers gave 21 days notice last week and that is now down to 14 days before strike action commences.
