Yesterday one resident of Belama Phase 1 told us that he was afraid his house was next in line to fall after his neighbor's one collapsed in the wee hours of Wednesday morning. The homes in that area are mortgaged with Social Security and the SSB is doing something about it.

Public Relations Manager for SSB Rhojani Toombs told us that on the day that the house collapsed, the keys were given to the proprietor to move into another house which is owned by SSB in the Vista Del Mar area. Assessors have gone in to see if the house can be fixed or if it has to be demolished and another built. As for the concerns of other residents in the area, an officer of the Home Mortgage Department will be inspecting the homes to see what can be done to fix them.
