As a Director of the Association of Concerned Belizeans, Glen Ysaguirre has been an outspoken figure at the forefront of public discussions on the Universal guarantee. Well now it seems he's paying for it. Today's Guardian Newspaper confirms that Ysaguirre was terminated from his senior post at the Atlantic Bank yesterday.

No reason was given for the termination but The Guardian says that the directive came from the very top. There had been mounting political pressures, we are told, particularly following the publication of a critical statement in the papers last week, linking Ysaguirre's ACB actions and the bank's reputation. Ysaguirre told us that at no point was he told that his termination was the result of his involvement in the ACB.

Ysaguirre had been working at the bank for 8 plus years as senior executive in charge of operations.
