The Corozal Free Zone has a new Chairman, new Chief Executive Officer, and shortly it will have a new look. The new board has undertaken a multi-million makeover for the bedraggled zone. It includes paving all the streets and facilities to make the zone more user friendly. But more important than that is that two new major stores are under construction. The first phase of the makeover project

is a new and modernized entrance which will be inaugurated tomorrow. Yesterday we got a preview and an explanation from new CEO Raul Rosado.

Raul Rosado, CEO – Corozal Free Zone
“We have embarked on a project for the Corozal Free Zone which will include the repaving of the entire Free Zone, drainage, proper lighting on streets, proper traffic signs, actually transform the zone – give it a new look, a more appealing look. What we have right now at the entrance is part of phase one. We constructed a canopy and we have a security complex which will house the security office, a holding cell, public bathrooms, which is very necessary – just to give a complete transformation of the Corozal Free Zone. We need to invite more people to the Free Zone but we need to give them a reason to come to the Free Zone.

The first phase is scheduled to be completed by the ending of August but because we are high season right now we are seeing the need to reopen the main entrance.”

The new Chairman of the board of directors for the Free Zone is Dennis Ackerman.
