3 inmates escaped from the central prison this morning and tonight the Kolbe Foundation says it needs your help in recapturing them. They are Guatemalans Melvin Zacarias, Jose Interiano, and Belizean Wilfredo Velasquez, all serving sentences for drug offences. They escaped at 9:00 this morning but information form the always secretive Kolbe Foundation is scarce. All we have been able to find out is that they are on the run and believed to be heading for the border.
Prison authorities could not tell us how they escaped. And because of Kolbe’s secretiveness, it seems police are also just catching up on it. When we called the Officer Commanding Eastern Division Senior Superintendent Allen Whylie late this afternoon to ask what police were doing, he said that was the first he was hearing of any escapes.
The information Kolbe has provided is that Velasquez, who is from Benque Viejo is serving two five year sentences for drug trafficking. Guatemalan Jose Interiano is serving two sentences, a combined 7 years for drug trafficking. And Melvin Zacarias, also a Guatemalan is serving a combined 4 years and three months for drug and firearm possession.
