He knocked down and killed a man on the fifth July and 10 days later, 34 year old Police Constable Michael Cob was arrested and charged for it. The accident, which was not even reported by police, cost the life of 22 year old Carlos Casanova. On Saturday July 5th Casanova was driving his motorcycle between miles 69 and 70 when Constable Cob who was driving a Land Cruiser crashed into him. Casanova, a research officer with the Social Security Board was killed on impact.
A tragic death, but police did nothing – and if it hadn’t been reported in the Cayo Star over the weekend, the case probably would have been left there. But on Tuesday, Cob was charged with manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct and driving a motor vehicle without due care and attention.
