Body Found in Floating Placencia Lagoon Identified

The body discovered floating in waters off the beach in Placencia on Tuesday has been positively identified as this man thirty four year old Honduran National Jose Antonio Nixolio Lazo Teruel who was a resident of Cow Pen Village in the Stann Creek District was last seen alive in an intoxicated state around twelve on Monday afternoon. Police are still trying to determine what happened that led to his death but authorities have confirmed that he was murdered.

While the body was badly decomposed, the police were able to observe injuries to both the head and hands. Nixolio Lazo also had a stab wound to the throat.
