As we've reported, The KHMH Audit was released to the media yesterday - under duress.

And of course, it had to be that way because the KHMH has issued a covering statement with the audit making the case that the person the media championed as a whistleblower was an extortionist who had improperly purloined documents.

The hospital also alleged that the media had never sought them out for comment - which is just plainly false. We exhausted ourselves trying to get comment from them when the story was breaking and all we got was a preposterous letter from the Sol Gen's office threatening to sue us if we proceeded with publication of any of the files that Delroy Herrera had acquired.

And so that's the background - as we begin our drill down into the audit tonight. First on the agenda are those transactions with Skilled Solutions. Here's what the audit says:..

Jules Vasquez reporting
They say you shouldn't judge a book by its cover - but perhaps the buyer should beware when buying hundreds of thousands of dollars' worth of equipment from a business whose headquarters is this residence. This is the address given by Skilled Solutions 6710 SW 12th. Street in Pembroke Pines, Florida.

And this is the house at that address which we found on Google Maps.

The KHMH has had very many transactions with Skilled Solutions and at least three times between April 2010 and December 2011 - the KHMH paid for items which it never got.

First there was a transaction for $17,098 - two checks were issued for the same order of medical equipment.

The audit states that PAGE 11:

"An interview with KHMH's Accountant about the second payment to Skilled Solutions, confirmed that the items in respect of the latter payment were never received by the KHMH. The hospital therefore paid the supplier an additional amount of US$17,098 for medical instruments that it never received."

Skilled Solutions compensated them with a letter of credit for 21 thousand dollars, but the auditor notes that quote, "we were unable to determine whether the "Letter of Credit" has been utilized to date.

That was in November of 2009 - and then again in August of 2011 - the KHMH paid Skilled Solutions $10,300.00 for supplies that never arrived.

A letter of credit was received - but no record was found to show that it had been used.

In its response to the audit, The Hospital claims that regarding the seventeen thousand dollar figure, the KHMH is yet to utilize the credit.

AS FOR THE $10,300 dollars the hospital says it has been confirmed that to date it has utilized the credit. We'll have more from the audit tomorrow - including the dispute over credit card use.
