The deadline to register your prepaid cell phone is next week Thursday, July 12. True, the March deadline turned into the April deadline, and now it's the July deadline.

But the Ministry of National Security sent out a release today saying that quote, with effect noon 13th July all unregistered cellular phones will be terminated."

Sounds serious this time - and we visited Telemedia to find out how many phones are still not registered - here's what the Public Relations Manager told us:...

Anjali Vasquez, Public Relations Manager - BTL

"We had people trickling in all week long. As of Monday we've had 75% completely registered. What we did this week was send out additional blast texts to people who are partially registered or are not registered at all inviting them to come in. Something else that we are trying to implement and actually it starts todays on July 5th which is today, we have extended opening hours for the convenience of our customers encouraging them to please come in and register before July 12th."

"I think people completely understand that this is necessary. We are hoping that we get the last bunch in before July 12th; we are even open on Saturday from 8am to 3pm. We understand that people work and people get off of work at 5 o' clock, we've extended our hours to 6 o' clock and it will happen each week day until July 12th. So you have July 12th at 5:59pm to register."

"It's a quick process - 5 minutes, that's all it takes. Just register your number because this is a number that you used, it belongs to you and we've been trying to push that message."
